Congregation Rodeph Shalom

Rodeph Shalom is a diverse Congregation connected through prayer, study, social action and community. Through study, prayer, community and social action, the rabbis create a meaningful Jewish experience for people of all ages including life-long involved Jews, adults new to Judaism, interfaith couples, feminists, agnostics, and individuals of diverse backgrounds, sexual orientations, and philosophical points of view.

Who We Are:

About 50% of Rodeph Shalom's 1000 family unit community resides in Center City Philadelphia and the other 50% lives in the surrounding suburbs. Several years ago Beth Ahavah (the LGBT synagogue in Center City) joined RS enriching our community.

Gatherings:

We gather for Shabbat services on Friday evening at either 6 PM or 8 PM. Saturday morning we meet for Torah study at 9:15 AM and Saturday morning services at 10:45 AM.

Our services span Reform customs from Classical to Contemporary; prayer at Rodeph Shalom reflects our congregant's varied traditions and beliefs. We appreciate meaning and ritual of prayer. The congregation encourages spiritual development through community prayer and home ritual. Adults and children can celebrate holidays and life cycle events together. Music is an essential element of our worship service, uplifting us in times of joy, comforting us in times of sorrow, and connecting us to the broader Jewish community, to Israel and to God.

This congregation is a YES! Coalition partner.
